I can help you with all things German and more – get in touch!
I am an experienced German localisation expert and project manager, and I offer the following services:
German tutoring – from confidently ordering a cup of coffee in German to brushing up your conversation skills or learning specialist business-related terminology
Creative translations – Would you like to have the peace of mind of knowing that your creative translations make sense, have an impact and stand out in a sea of AI-generated mediocrity?
Knowledge management & taxonomy – I corral your scattered information into clearly structured, accessible knowledge your teams can actually use
Project management – I have extensive project management experience in both commercial (localisation) and public sector (education) environments
My background
I am an English to German translator and project manager and I have lived in the UK for many years. I feel at home in both countries and regularly spend time in Germany.
Translation degree (University of Applied Sciences in Cologne, Germany)
Chartered Linguist, Member of the Chartered Institute of Linguists (CIOL)
14 years of in-house translation and localisation experience
Self-employed since 2012
My professional experience ranges from managing complex projects in the public and private sector to translating marketing content, non-fiction books, software strings, subtitles, etc., as well as creating and maintaining terminology lists and style guides.
German lead translator on a variety of projects, responsible for style guide, terminology, proofreading, team coaching
Senior Project Manager at the Open University, coordinating the creation of degree modules in various faculties (STEM, languages, social sciences)
Localisation Project Manager, coordinating the creation of clinical trial patient materials in up to 60 languages
Translation Manager, responsible for a team of up to 19 translators covering 6 languages
And when I’m not translating…
Originally from the far north of Germany, I now live and work in Oxfordshire, UK. When I am not busy translating I can usually be found in a glider – either as an instructor and cross-country coach at my gliding club or competing as a member of the British Gliding Team. I have so far represented the UK in six international gliding competitions, culminating in winning a silver medal in a World Championship.
Please e-mail me or send me a LinkedIn message if you would like to discuss your translation needs.
